A planning application has been submitted to Sevenoaks District Council for a new 136 home development on the Sevenoaks Gasholder Station site.
The two gasholder structures that were demolished in 2019, were an important industrial landmark that stood for nearly 100 years as a prominent local landmark. This development seeks to celebrate the site’s industrial past while making a sustainable and viable contribution to the area’s housing targets.
The client SGN place was encouraged to bring this site forward for housing being one of very few brownfield sites capable of taking a good quantum of housing in the area. The aim was to maximise the housing provision in order to avoid building on greenbelt land.
Throughout the pre-application process MAX Architects, the client and the design team worked in close collaboration with planning and urban design officers from Sevenoaks District Council on all design and townscape items to ensure that all elements were carefully and thoroughly considered prior to the submission.
